I met with Jessica + Alex on a windy summer evening at the Field Museum campus. Alex is a huge history buff and the Field Museum is one of their favorite places in the city. We started the session there, found some colorful flowers along the way to dance around in, then took a walk along the lake behind the aquarium while the sunset behind the buildings.
How did you meet? Tell me your love story!
We met our freshman year of high school. We had plenty of classes together. One class in particular, English, I sat in front of him. I turned around and introduced myself. We were friends first and didn’t start dating until later in high school and in college. How did he propose? Tell me your engagement story!
I had been trying to guess how he’ll propose to me for a few months leading up to the day he actually proposed. I thought I wouldn’t be surprised at all, but I ended up being so surprised.
It was the day before my birthday, November 13th. Alex and I were taking a walk around the block and when we got back to his house in the driveway was his car. He said, wait here I am going to give you a part of your birthday present a day early. He even said it is the smallest one and least important. Then, he brought out a book and opened it as he got down on one knee. The book had the pages carved out and the ring box sitting there. He then asked me to marry him! It was really special because it was just the two of us sharing that moment, no one else was around.
