For Elizabeth + Eric’s couples session, we wanted to find somewhere in the city that had some natural elements but wasn’t a location that’s been done so many times before. Elizabeth brought up Northerly Island to me (they had looked into it as a potential wedding venue), and I was immediately on board. I had only gone there to see concerts (Taking Back Sunday and Brand New – YUP!) and totally forgot they transformed the extra space into a park.
Years ago, the man-made peninsula was the home of Meigs Field Airport, but it was demolished in the early 2000’s. Around 2010, they started renovating it into a park. When we went there were people jogging and riding bikes. You get a really unique and full view of Chicago’s skyline along with some wildflowers and fun hills to climb. I’m so grateful Elizabeth and Eric were up for the challenge of “parkouring” with me for this shoot – Elizabeth gets extra props for doing all of it in her heels and dress!
Super excited for their wedding coming up in just a few short weeks!
