I recently did a product shoot for Heshima Kenya, which is a wonderful non-profit organization headquartered in Chicago. They work with vulnerable refugee women and children in Nairobi, Kenya to support and empower them holistically. Part of their comprehensive programming is the Maisha Collective, which is the economic empowerment component of the Kenyan women’s education. Women design, dye, and create scarves by hand that the Chicago headquarters sell in the United States and abroad. All proceeds go back to this collective and its sustainability so that these women are able to receive a proper education and stand on their own two feet.

These scarves are beautiful and would make great gifts for any lady you know! It’s also perfect timing with the holidays. Buy some as gifts and for yourself since you’d be giving back to a great cause! In additional to scarves, they sell jewelry as well. You can check out their current collection here, and learn more about the organization’s work here.
